Our clients approached us to design the refurbishment, renovation and extension of a traditional mill house in the Angus countryside.
The existing house has been extended at various points, leaving dark spaces, and excessive areas of circulation. Our proposals see the existing house re-organised to create a large open plan space through the heart of the house, with a double-height dining area sitting within the original stone walls. In addition to significant extension and energy efficient refurbishment, the covering of the existing external pool will allow the clients to swim all year-round while enjoying views towards the Angus Glens. Significant new extensions, as well as a new pool house, finished in stacked cut stone provides additional guest accommodation and contrasts with the floor to ceiling glazing lining the other sides of the pool.
